The possible existence of a star composed entirely of strange matter (a mixture of de-confined u, d and s quarks) called strange star, was proposed in early 80's. The conditions for this type of matter to appear could in principle be found in the core of neutron stars. There is even the idea that all neutron stars have strange matter in their cores, the detection of gravitational waves could help restrict the parameters of the equation of state for neutron (or strange) stars in order to clarify this aspect. In this simulations made with a SPH newtonian code, the merger of a binary system of strange stars is studied.
